2.1 dribbles, 2.4 tackles -Aston Villa signing this prodigious 19-year-old star is an absolute no-brainer

Why Aston Villa should move for Bolton prodigy Dennis Politic According to the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa have been credited with an interest in Bolton Wanderers starlet Dennis Politic, with the Lions keen to add some quality young talent to their ranks when the transfer window reopens in January.  The 19-year-old Romanian teenage sensation has caught the eye in his breakthrough season with the Trotters in League One and Aston Villa are ready to snap him up as an exciting prospect for the future.  Politic was one of the many youngsters to be used by Bolton Wanderers at the start of the season due to their financial crisis and ownership issues but, unlike a lot of the other rookies who have faded away following the arrival of nine new signings on deadline day, the former Romanian U-17 international has managed to retain his place in the team. Politic, though, isn’t the only Bolton youngster to have caught the eye in the third-tier under manager Keith Hill this term after highly-rated midfielder Luca Connell joined Celtic during the summer transfer window, with teenage forward Ronan Darcy also understood to be on the radar of Leicester City. (h/t Leicestershire Live) Born in Brasov, Romania, Dennis Politic started his career in the youth ranks of hometown club SR Brasov before leaving his homeland to join Man United in 2012. He featured for the Red Devils across various age-group levels and spent six years in the academy before completing a move to Bolton Wanderers.  After signing his first professional contract with the Trotters, the 19-year-old hotshot was loaned out to Salford City in the National League last season, where he earned plaudits for a series of impressive displays in the non-league arena.  Having been fast-tracked into the first-team this term, Politic has hardly looked out of place in League One and has more than held his own amidst Bolton’s struggles at the bottom of the table. The teenager has already made 7 league appearances for the Trotters while also finding the net against Bradford and Rochdale in the domestic cup competitions.  With Keith Hill deploying him in wide attacking roles on either side of the pitch, Politic has impressed with his technical abilities on the ball and tireless running up and down the flanks. As per whoscored, the Romanian averages 2.1 dribbles, 0.5 key passes and 2.4 tackles per game, figures which are quite impressive considering that he is still in his formative years as a professional. To put things into perspective, Aston Villa should look at Dennis Politic as one for the future. The 19-year-old is playing for Bolton’s first-team in the third-tier but the process of transition from the academy ranks to the senior level is a lot more lengthy when it comes to the Premier League and Politic still has some way to go before he is ready to make an impact in the top-flight. While bringing in reinforcements to bolster the first-team could once again be a priority in January even after spending a fortune in the summer, the Lions should also turn their attention to some of the budding talents in the lower divisions and Politic is someone who has stood out.  Villa completing big-money moves for Ezri Konsa, Douglas Luiz and Wesley in the summer is indicative of the fact that Dean Smith is not afraid to place his trust in youngsters if they are good enough to do a job for the team and Politic, who is only a couple of years junior to the aforementioned names, could get a chance to impress in the near future.  In Jacob Ramsey, Keinan Davis and Cameron Archer, the Lions already have some exciting players coming through their widely-revered youth system and Politic could be a promising addition, as Villa look to polish a few gems of their own.  In all probability, the 19-year-old would have to go through a few loan spells if a move to Villa Park does materialize, given that he is unlikely to challenge for a spot in Dean Smith’s side at the moment.
