Conte says it’s ‘not right’ to discuss Lukaku – then tells all about Lukaku

Antonio Conte has spoken of his frustration over Inter Milan’s so-far-fruitless pursuit of Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku. The new Inter coach is desperate to recruit Lukaku this summer with Mauro Icardi currently out of the picture at the San Siro. But United are holding firm in their valuation of the Belgium striker, with the Red Devils insisting on getting back the £75million they paid Everton two years ago. Before Inter meet United in a friendly in Singapore on Saturday, Conte said: “You know very well that I like this player, also in the past when I was Chelsea’s coach. “Today he is a player of United and this is the reality. For sure it’s not easy to play without a striker at the beginning of the season like this. The market is still open.” State of this. — Alex Shaw (@AlexShawESPN) July 19, 2019   Conte’s haste over Lukaku has been intensified by Mauro Icardi’s situation. The Argentina striker has been frozen out at the San Siro, with the striker not currently with the Inter squad on their pre-season tour. Conte also making it clear Icardi has no future at Inter. "The situation is very clear, the club was very clear that Icardi is out of Inter’s project. This is the reality."
