Crystal Palace eye Carl Jenkinson as Aaron Wan-Bissaka replacement

The Eagles are scouring the market for a new right-back after they reluctantly allowed Aaron Wan-Bissaka to depart for Manchester United in a deal which could net the London club up to £50million. Jenkinson, who made just eight appearances in all competitions last season, was offered to Palace earlier this summer as Arsenal explored the option of a player plus cash deal for Wilfried Zaha. Palace insisted they had no interest in the 27-year-old who joined the Gunners from Charlton eight years ago, but the Sun claims they have changed their mind having been knocked back in their approaches for several alternative targets. Jenkinson has been deemed surplus to requirements by Unai Emery who opted to play Ainsley Maitland-Niles out of position last season, following Hector Bellerin’s cruciate knee ligament injury, rather than place his faith in the Finnish-born right-back. Arsenal value Jenksinson at around £5m and are hopeful that a raft of player sales will help boost a transfer warchest that stands at a measly £45m following their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
