England boss Gareth Southgate cools Manchester United links

Gareth Southgate has been linked with the Manchester United job (Picture: Getty) Gareth Southgate insists ‘the job is not done’ with England amid rumours that Manchester United are considering hiring him as their next manager. The 48-year-old surpassed expectations by leading England to the World Cup semi-finals in the summer and has been named as a potential candidate for the Red Devils. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has impressed as interim manager since taking over the reins from Jose Mourinho, masterminding a six-match winning streak, and there have been calls for the Norwegian to appointed on a permanent basis in the summer. However, the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane continue to be linked with the job. Southgate, though, appears to have ruled himself out of the running.
