FIFA president Gianni Infantino to run for re-election in 2019

The United States, Mexico and Canada earned a 134-65 vote win over Morocco to earn the right to host the 2026 World Cup. ESPN's Sam Borden explains why United 2026 are cautiously optimistic ahead of Wednesday's vote and identifies key votes they will need to win. Sam Borden caught up with former USSF president Sunil Gulati after the 'United 2026' bid was selected to host the 2026 World Cup. FIFA president Gianni Infantino said on Wednesday he will run for re-election. Speaking at the FIFA Congress in Moscow one day before the start of the World Cup, Infantino said he would present his candidacy for elections taking place in Paris in June 2019. Infantino was elected to the post in February 2016. "I want another four years of it because I believe in what I do," Infantino said. "I believe in what I can do for FIFA and for football."
