The 32-year-old is reportedly keen to leave the Bernabeu before the transfer window closes – although the Premier League deadline has passed, clubs in Europe are still able to buy and sell players until the end of August. Inter are believed to have offered Modric an enormous £9m-a-year contract – almost £3m more than he currently earns – and he is keen to land one last big payday. The winger, once a target of Manchester United, posted a picture of his fellow Croats along with a message saying, ‘Who is missing?’ Even more cheekily, Perisic also tagged Modric’s Instagram account along with Brozovic and Vrsaljko, and evidently the trio are very keen on a reunion with their national team skipper. Fresh reports in Spain, however, suggest Real are desperate to keep Modric at the club and have offered him an even bigger contract. Having lost Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus already this summer, and with Mateo Kovacic spending the season on loan at Chelsea, Real are determined not to lose another player and have offered Modric £12m-a-year to stay.
