Klopp responds to ‘difficult’ Sturridge, Ox England snubs

Jurgen Klopp has offered his thoughts on Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s omissions from the latest England squad. Gareth Southgate announced a 25-man line-up on Thursday, with both Sturridge and Oxlade-Chamberlain dropping out after having been previously picked. Neither are starting regularly for Liverpool – Sturridge has started four of 17 games while Oxlade-Chamberlain has started two of 12 – but both have been treated as surprise absences. Klopp was asked about Southgate’s decisions on Friday ahead of Liverpool’s fixture with West Ham on Saturday. “I like Daniel. He is in good shape and he scored. He always has a big impact. I always think about him. He is 100 percent fit,” Klopp said. “Yesterday we heard about Joe, but we heard at the same time that Sturridge and Oxlade-Chamberlain are not in. You cannot celebrate one with the other. “Joe deserves it. He is a wonderful young player. He has made big steps. He is ready for this. “If Gareth Southgate had seen our last three games he could have invited all three of them. “Daniel had injury problems but they always called him up before, If he doesn’t think he needs him I can’t change that. “Gareth makes the decision. I would say both of them would play in other Premier League teams quite regularly. If he sticks to this plan 100 percent it could be difficult in the future. “Ox is coming in a new club. He needed time to adapt. He has made big steps. But I cannot call and say ‘please call him up’. I heard it from the press.” The post Klopp responds to ‘difficult’ Sturridge, Ox England snubs appeared first on Football365....
