La Liga Table 2018 Week 28: Standings and Final Scores After Sunday

Atletico Madrid moved back to within eight points of La Liga leaders Barcelona as they beat Celta Vigo 3-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium on Sunday. Las Palmas remain four points from safety as they lost 2-0 to Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao downed Leganes 2-0 for only their second league win in 10. Meanwhile, Espanyol came back from a goal down to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 at the RCDE Stadium. Here are the latest standings in La Liga after the four matches on Sunday: Atleti bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Barcelona by earning a comfortable win against Celta. Antoine Griezmann continued his remarkable form as he opened the scoring just before half-time and then set up the second for Vitolo in the 56th minute, per Squawka: Substitute Angel Correa took advantage of a rebound in the 63rd minute to net the third goal and wrap up the points for Diego Simeone's side. Las Palmas are running out of time to save themselves from the drop and went a sixth league game without a win as they were downed by Villarreal. Carlos Bacca broke the deadlock in the 67th minute before an incident-packed stoppage time saw Alex Galvez sent off and Nicola Sansone net Villarreal's second from the penalty spot. Espanyol's last defeat in La Liga came on January 28, and they kept their unbeaten run going on Sunday despite going behind to Willian Jose's opener in the 41st minute. Leo Baptistao levelled six minutes into the second half after fine work from Esteban Granero, and Gerard Moreno scored the winner 18 minutes from time when he followed up his own saved penalty. The final match on Sunday saw Athletic run out 2-0 winners against Leganes thanks to a first-half double from Raul Garcia.Read more World Football news on
