Leeds United signing this prolific 27-year-old star would solve their striking woes going forward

Why Leeds United should go all out to sign Baghdad Bounedjah in January Al Sadd striker Baghdad Bounedjah has spoken out on his future to Al-Watan amidst rumours linking him with a move to Leeds United. The striker has revealed he has offers to leave but is happy at his current club Al Sadd. (h/t The Birmingham Mail) Baghdad Bounedjah, 27, has been in red hot form for Al Sadd and struck the back of the net 39 times in the Qatar Stars League last season. The new season is well underway in Qatar and the Algerian has already got the goals, further cementing his glowing reputation. The 27-year-old has caught the eye of several clubs, with English Championship side Leeds credited with an interest. Despite Bounedjah admitting he is happy at the Qatari club, Leeds must make an attempt to prise him away from to the Elland Road in January. Baghdad Bounedjah celebrating a goal for Al Sadd. (Getty Images) Leeds are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season and clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League. After dominating the Championship last season, Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost momentum and ended up in the play-offs where they were dumped out by a Derby County side led by Frank Lampard. The Whites will look to ensure that the same misfortune doesn’t happen again. For that to happen, they’ll need to strengthen their squad in January with a couple of additions. And one crucial area Bielsa should address is the striking department due to a lack of options. With Patrick Bamford struggling for goals in recent weeks and Arsenal-owned striker Eddie Nketiah set to miss the next four weeks with injury, the Whites could do with an experienced striker for the second half of the season. That’s where Baghdad Bounedjah could be a smart addition to Leeds’ ranks. Leeds United players celebrate after scoring against Charlton Athletic. (Getty Images) Bounedjah has scored goals for fun since arriving at Al Sadd back in 2015. He finished the 2018 calendar year with 58 goals in all competitions and helped Algeria win the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer. The 27-year-old has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2019/20 season and has left off from where he finished last season, with him already flourishing under the guidance of new manager and Barcelona legend Xavi. Verdict In truth, Bounedjah would be a fantastic signing for Leeds. He could make the Whites even more productive in front of goal, whilst handing a massive boost to Bielsa’s promotion hopes.
