The Championship leaders were looking to bring in a new striker after Arsenal recalled Eddie Nketiah from his loan spell at Elland Road. Leeds ended up signing Jean-Kevin Augustin on loan from RB Leipzig but looked into signing superstar forwards Cavani and Ibrahimovic. Uruguay legend Cavani has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe over the past decade, scoring 200 goals in 300 appearances for PSG. Swedish hero Ibrahimovic, meanwhile, has enjoyed successful spells at LA Galaxy, Manchester United and PSG over the past eight seasons. Asked about Leeds’ interest in Cavani, club owner Radrizzani told Sky Italia: ‘The [PSG] president had given me the availability to verify the interest with the player’s brother. ‘However, the negotiation never flew. I spoke more concretely with Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]. He could give us a decisive push but he decided to go to [AC] Milan. He was very honest and transparent with me.’ Zlatan Ibrahimovic could have been heading to Elland Road (Picture: Getty) Radrizzani added: ‘We must be rational and consistent with the coach and team strategy. ‘I did not even discuss the ideas of Cavani and Ibrahimovic with [Leeds manager Marcelo] Bielsa because we had not reached that point to discuss them together. ‘Bielsa works with a team of 12 scouts, they have ‘their’ players every window and we discuss them.
