Liverpool move ahead of Man United in race for Shaqiri

Liverpool have ‘opened talks’ with Stoke over a move for Manchester United target Xherdan Shaqiri. Shaqiri has emerged as a possible signing for a number of clubs looking to bolster their attacking options, with the winger’s efforts in trying to rescue Stoke from Premier League relegation only bolstering his reputation. Liverpool have long been linked with the Switzerland international, while Man United were also mentioned earlier this month. According to the Daily Telegraph, Liverpool are now in negotiations with Stoke. Jurgen Klopp ‘wants to trigger his release clause’. Most outlets have reported that clause to stand at around £12million, but John Percy states that it ‘is understood to be over £13m’. Dominic King of the Daily Mail says the Reds are ‘confident’ of winning the race to sign the 26-year-old, and that the deal could even be ‘completed before they leave on their US Tour’. Shaqiri’s ‘attractive release clause’ is again mentioned, as is Liverpool and Stoke’s ‘good relationship’. Liverpool fly out to the United States on July 21, giving them ten days to complete the deal and have him as part of their squad. Shaqiri is ‘keen’.   The post Liverpool move ahead of Man United in race for Shaqiri appeared first on Football365....
