Man Utd contact Juventus over Paulo Dybala transfer but deal is unlikely for two reasons

Dybala has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford, but an offer has never emerged for the Argentina international. United have still not made a bid for the 25-year-old, but Gazzetta dello Sport report that initial contact has now been made between the clubs about his availability and a meeting has been scheduled. However, Gazzetta state that Juve want at least €80m (£71.8m) for the striker and he is keen to stay and fight for his place in the first team under new manager Maurizio Sarri. The Red Devils will struggle to get a deal over the line given those two significant obstacles. Dybala wants to stay in Turin (Picture: SIPA USA/PA Images) Dybala endured his worst season in a Juventus shirt over the last campaign, starting just 24 Serie A game – less than any other season – and scoring just five league goals – his worst return. FourFourTwo report that Sarri has plans to reintroduce Dybala into the first team, taking on a false nine position, so despite his dip in form, things could be looking up for the Argentinian. With no desire to move away from Turin, a new manager with faith in him and Champions League football, United might find it difficult to sell a move to Old Trafford. The only way a deal seems at all likely is if Dybala forms part of a deal to take Paul Pogba back to Juve from United. The Serie A champions are keen to re-sign the Frenchman but the Red Devils do not want to let him go and will only consider offers of at least £150m. Juventus are not willing to stump up that kind of cash but could try and use Dybala as a makeweight in a deal, as they are already willing to offer Douglas Costa, Blaise Matuidi and Joao Cancelo as part of an agreement.
