Manchester United and Tottenham tried to sign the forward and both clubs reportedly agreed terms with Juventus before the transfer fell through. Dybala had fallen down the pecking order under Massimiliano Allegri and the player is believed to have recorded an emotional goodbye message for fans before Juventus pulled the plug. The 26-year-old has now admitted just how close he was to a switch. ‘I was close to leaving,’ he told the Guardian. ‘That was in the club’s thinking, I knew. Until the last minute, we were waiting.’ Dybala has been in good form this season with eleven goals in 26 appearances for Juventus and the Argentine explained Sarri wanted him to stay at the club during a turbulent summer window. Juventus decided to keep Dybala (Picture: Getty) ‘I have two years left on my contract. That’s not a short time but it’s not a long one either,’ he added. ‘We’ll see what plans Juventus have, if they think I might leave in the next market or if they want me to stay. ‘That’s a decision for the club to make.
