Nicolas Pepe impresses Freddie Ljungberg with superb skill in Arsenal training

Nicolas Pepe got out of trouble with a nice flick in Arsenal’s training session (Arsenal) Nicolas Pepe has done his chances of winning back his place at Arsenal no harm after impressing Freddie Ljungberg in training before Thursday’s clash with Brighton. The £72 million summer signing was left on the bench in Ljungberg’s first game in charge as interim manager as Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw by Norwich City on Sunday. After the match at Carrow Road, Ljungberg called on Pepe to step up his performances in training as it would lead to securing a place in the starting line-up. And Pepe appears to be doing just that with an excellent display of quick feet during one of Ljungberg’s tight transition exercises. Pepe looked like he had no place to go with Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Lucas Torreira in close proximity but the Ivorian’s brilliant backheel got him out of trouble. And Pep’s show of quick-thinking drew instant praise from Ljungberg who said: ‘Nice, good Nico.’ Pepe is aiming to win back his place at Arsenal (AP Photo) Ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Brighton on Thursday, Ljungberg has revealed that he plans to hold further talks with Pepe about his plans for the Ivorian. ‘Nicolas is a very, very good player,’ said Ljungberg. ‘Sometimes we come from a different league and it takes time to adapt, off the pitch and on the pitch.
