Ole Gunnar Solskjaer predicts Liverpool and Manchester City will not replicate last season’s Premier League points total

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident Manchester United can close the gap in the Premier League (EPA) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful that Manchester United can finish closer to Liverpool and Manchester City this season and believes the two Premier League title challengers will not end the campaign with another high points total. Pep Guardiola’s side narrowly beat Liverpool to the Premier League title in May as they finished on 98 points, while Jurgen Klopp’s men ended up with 97 points. United, meanwhile, failed to secure a Champions League place and finished in sixth position with 66 points. But Solskjaer is convinced that United supporters will see a closer title race this season. ‘The Premier League is a very competitive league,’ said Solskjaer.
