Real Madrid identify Napoli playmaker Fabian Ruiz as cheaper Paul Pogba alternative

Zinedine Zidane has made it clear that Pogba is his top target to bolster Real’s midfield, however, Manchester United’s reluctance to lose the Frenchman will make negotiations difficult. United have reportedly set a £150m price tag on Pogba’s head in a bid to deter both Real and his former club Juventus from firming up their interest with concrete offers. Real are in need of balancing the books having splashed out £300m already this summer with the signings of Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Ferland Mendy, Rodrygo and Eder Militao. The 23-year-old scored five goals and provided four assists in Serie A and has also caught the eye while playing for Spain at the U21 European Championships. According to AS, Ruiz would command a significant fee himself but the report states that Napoli could be willing to do business for between €70-80m, around half Pogba’s price tag. Carlo Ancelotti’s desire to bring James Rodriguez to Naples could also be used as a bargaining tool for Real in their bid to land Ruiz. Eriksen has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital for some time and has admitted that he is open to leaving Spurs this summer following six seasons in the Premier League.
