When does the Premier League start and what are the opening day fixtures?

(Picture: Getty Images) With England’s World Cup hopes now over, football fans are turning their attention to the return of the Premier League, which is not too far away at all. There is very little rest for any players that have gone deep at the World Cup, with pre-season training already underway and the first matches right around the corner. Arsenal and Chelsea will both have new men at the helm on the opening weekend of the season, whilst Fulham, Cardiff and Wolves are the three new arrivals from the Championship. Here is when it gets back underway and what we can look forward to on the opening day of the season… Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba will reunite at Old Trafford (Picture: Getty Images) The season gets going on Friday, 10 August at Old Trafford between two former Premier League winners in Manchester United and Leicester. Which means the opening weekend of the campaign is over three days, with six games on Saturday and three more on the Sunday. The Premier League season runs right the way through to 12 May 2019.
