Wilfried Zaha submits transfer request at Crystal Palace after Arsenal’s failed bid

Arsenal target Wilfried Zaha has told Crystal Palace he wants to leave (Picture: Getty) Wilfried Zaha has reportedly submitted a transfer request at Crystal Palace as he looks to force through his dream move to Arsenal this summer. The Gunners made a bid of around £40m for Zaha, 26, and included the option of three players to sweeten the deal, but Palace were quick to reject the offer. Though Palace were reportedly left ‘furious’ and ‘incensed’ by Arsenal’s opening proposal, Unai Emery remains hopeful of landing the Ivory Coast international. However, the Eagles are holding out for a fee of £70m for Zaha and have no interest in allowing the forward to leave for half that price. According to Sky Sports, Zaha told Palace that he wants to leave the club after returning from the 2019 Africa Cup Nations. Arsenal are expected to make another push for the former Manchester United man in the coming days. Asked about Arsenal’s failed £40m offer, Zaha told On Sport: ‘I have no comment on it. The only thing that’s on my mind right now is trying to win this cup [AFCON].’ Pushed on whether he would like to play for Arsenal, he replied: ‘I don’t know… we’ll see in the future.’ Zaha scored ten league goals for Palace last season (Picture: Getty) Arsenal legend Ian Wright is confident Zaha would be a ‘magnificent’ signing for his former club. He told The South China Morning Post: ‘We’re trying to get Wilfried Zaha, which would be magnificent. ‘You want competition for places. Defensively, I think everyone can agree, we need some strength in there.
